Getting Around: Departures from Puerto Ayora

All our island hopping tours depart from Puerto Ayora, the main port of Santa Cruz. Depending on the island, the boat ride ranges from 1 hour (North Seymour, Pinzón) to 2.5 hours (Bartolomé). Tours typically depart between 6:00 and 7:00 AM and return by late afternoon.

For Bartolomé specifically, some tours depart from the Itabaca Canal on the north side of Santa Cruz — about 40 minutes by bus from Puerto Ayora. We coordinate all transfers and will let you know the exact meeting point when you book.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions — Floreana Island Tours

Which island hopping tour is best for first-time visitors?

+
For first-time visitors, we recommend Bartolomé Island for its iconic Pinnacle Rock viewpoint and penguin snorkeling, or North Seymour for the best wildlife walking experience with blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. Both are full-day tours with excellent guides and don't require prior experience.

Can I see Galápagos penguins on these tours?

+
Yes! The best chance to see Galápagos penguins is on the Bartolomé Island tour, where penguins are regularly spotted during the snorkeling session at Sullivan Bay. They are also occasionally seen on the Pinzón Island tour. Sightings are not guaranteed but are common year-round.

What is the 180° Santa Cruz tour?

+
The 180° tour follows the coastline of Santa Cruz Island in a half-circle route by speedboat, stopping at hidden beaches, lava formations, and snorkel spots inaccessible by land. It's a fantastic way to explore Santa Cruz from the water, visiting locations most tourists never see.

Do I need the National Park fee for these tours?

+
Yes. All visitors must pay a $200 USD Galápagos National Park entrance fee upon arrival at Baltra or San Cristóbal airport. This is a one-time fee covering all islands during your stay. It is not included in the tour prices.

Can I book multiple tours for a better price?

+
Absolutely! Contact us on WhatsApp with how many days you have and which islands interest you most. We'll design a custom multi-day itinerary with the best combined pricing. Booking multiple tours together always gets you a better deal.

How far in advance should I book?

+
We recommend booking at least 1-2 days in advance to guarantee availability, especially for Bartolomé which is the most popular tour. During high season (June-September and December-January) book as early as possible. We often have last-minute availability — contact us on WhatsApp and we'll do our best.
